dust off those steel wool supplies, raid the kitchen draw and find that fold up chair for its gonna be a bonanza on Saturday night. Location: Malabar (pm and or text for specific details) It is 20 minute walk, covered shoes essential and a sense of humour. Date and Time: 01 Sep ~ 4:30 pm Tide: who cares Weather: not looking crash hot either, partly cloudy ? Moon : not optimal, however. Waning gibbous, up at 6:22pm down at 6:05am, it will however be in a good possie for the bunker. Gear required: tripod is probably the most important accessory The location is pretty sweet for some sunset light-painting and steel wool action and there nothing better than turning up on fathers day with mysterious scars.. Plenty of compositions for both south and north looking and some good foreground features for the star trails. If the sky conditions are not great for star trails then it will be just the sunset and light-painting session. This will potentially have a few members from photoholics too, so get in early since we ain't gonna have 25 people out on the rock at once ( I hold no responsibility for nothing)

I would have been interested in going along with my LF film gear, but alas, I will be at a birthday dinner Sat night.
Regards, Patrick
Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935.

I'm keen
FYI it's actually essentially a full moon this Sat so star trails will likely be an issue - probably good for light painting, etc where the environment itself will be nicely lit for the long exposure stuff (might be nice with some EL action)
Best time for star trails is likely to be Sat 15th (no moon)
NB: Sunset is at 5:38PM so if we get clouds we might be able to incorporate that as well (standing on the cliff looking back at the bunker with the sun setting behind it)

Won't this clash with the Photoshop workshop?

Photoshop workshop is Sunday. This is Saturday. BG was talking about a sunrise session up here too. I'll be interested to see that go ahead as well.

Super duper.
#1 would be better without the 'foreground' moss. Just the misty river only. Thoughts?

Interesting processing take with #2 (our first attempt I assume) - I'm not sure it suits the feel I had with the shot (long exposure, soft, smooth, etc) - but that could just be because I was there and have the original shot to compare, etc - fresh eyes might have a completely different opinion
That last is also interesting - it's probably my least favourite (compo, etc) but I like the colour and feel of the image - I assume this was one of the ones you took first (with the 10 stop ND)?

I'm not really feeling this one - but I am in awe of the PP - I have something others don't have the benefit of - my own copy of this take - slightly different lens and slightly different position but I'm guessing a reasonably similar RAW capture - so I'm comparing your final result with my original RAW and wow!
