Olympus EM-5 & kit lens portraits

I have a wedding booked for next month, which I plan to shoot with the EM-5, coupled with the 14-42mm/45mm/40-150mm trio of lenses. (For those SLR traditionalists who are gasping in horror, don't worry, I will carry a 50D/24-105 combo as a backup, just in case...)

I have been trying to get some practice in beforehand. The el cheapo 14-42 kit lens does a pretty decent job IMHO, and the touch screen focusing abilities of the EM-5 are excellent. Here's a few recent practice shots, all taken in available light:

Nice work...I have been very impressed with the 14-42 (on my EP3) and it makes me think about looking more seriously at dialing down the Nikon kit in favour of m43...then I remember FX goodness

I know what you mean. I saw a brand new 5Dii advertised on the digital picture (USA) this morning for $1599 or thereabouts. My credit card finger became itchy, but I resisted.

Oz - the pic of Robyn in B&W is just superb. The expression, the B&W and your accomplished camera usage all add up to one helluva pic

The Grandkids - cute shot - love the expressions. The expression on the face of the grandmother is even better

The colour shots all have a strong magenta cast for me (esp #2)

Not strong perhaps subtle on my end. [old Dell calibrated]

OK last shot is very MAgenta.

These are in AdobeRGB! Maybe that's why they look wonky colorwise.

Suren, the colour corrected image looks very yellow on my Macbook pro screen, but at least not magenta-ish. I will have a go at changing the mode in CS5 and see how it looks on my screen. Thanks.

Thanks for your feedback Ozi. I am not that confident about my monitor as it's getting a little long on the tooth. Is yours calibrated? Do you have polarised specs to actually see through the glare?

Please post your result. By the way, I just used curves only to set the white and black points. I assumed her collar was white and the shadow on her right ear area is black. There was no other adjustment.

Suren, I've changed color space to prophotoRGB, but I don't like it as much as AdobeRGB, not that there's a huge difference.

My monitor is definitely not calibrated as I've never seen the need to do so, seeing that I change printing locations so often. Thankfully we have a very good pro photo lab here in Coffs and Ray colour corrects all my prints that really matter.
