Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent. Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature. Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread. Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Pimp my photoYo, yo, yo. What is up, homes?
I made this suggestion months ago and thought I can now put it into practice: providing forum members a scanned copy of one of my negs to play with to their heart's content and post for comparison. Ideally, I would provide a darkroom print for comparison. If enough people are keen to participate, we can kick this off with one of the Hunter Valley photos recently posted: This one because I had plans for a more dramatic shot, but with boring skies, early afternoon sun, the neg is dense but the image is a bit boring. The uncropped version of this one (there is more space to the right and left). At this stage, given these are 4x5 negs, I will be limited to contact printing but will have some scope for manipulation. I will then scan the prints and post unmodified. Thoughts? Regards, Patrick
Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935. Our mug is smug
Re: Pimp my photoSince I have no internet at home...you are on...I will download neg scan at work and have a play at home.

No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: Pimp my photo
I will dump them on smugmug tonight and post the link here. How big do you want 'em? Regards, Patrick

Re: Pimp my photo
I like it big how about 2000pixels on the shortest side? that should give plenty of cropping latitude if required. gerry's photography journey

Re: Pimp my photoOk, here are the larger files of the B&W and colour versions.
Go nuts - if you want to HDR them, drop skies in, whatever. One Two Three Four Regards, Patrick

Re: Pimp my photo2.5 mins per image was my limit
the first smacked me of a old photo, hence processed accordingly, the second, the key change is teh crop and the colours, the hint of distance detail leaves me wondering what wonderful view the person who sits in that chair is gonna get... gerry's photography journey

Re: Pimp my photoI particularly like your version of the chair photo, Gerry. The crop adds a lot to it.
For anyone who wants to play, I will be taking down the high resolution images from the Smugmug site by tomorrow afternoon. Regards, Patrick
