Dining on Red...Took my girls to dinner at a nice Thai place in Cammeray last week - they had these very cool chandelier style lights and with a glass ceiling (and it being near the end of twilight) it made for a interesting handheld shot with the 50/1.4 (at 1.4 of course )
and a little glimpse along the kitchen galley with the also interesting birdcage lighting just as I was heading out the door D600, D7000, Nikon/Sigma/Tamron Lenses, Nikon Flashes, Sirui/Manfrotto/Benro Sticks

Re: Dining on Red...Rodney, that first has a sense of presence that makes me feel like I am there now. Lovely.

Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935. Our mug is smug
Dining on Red...Both are very nicely handled Rodney. They give off a vibe that I would be happy to dine there.

Re: Dining on Red...Love them both. You've captured the intimacy of the restaurant and the images have a classical feel about them. You really nailed them both technically and artistically.

Re: Dining on Red...
Not far from you either - recognise the place? - I've only been there twice now but the place was always packed and the food is pretty good.
Appreciated - thanks guys D600, D7000, Nikon/Sigma/Tamron Lenses, Nikon Flashes, Sirui/Manfrotto/Benro Sticks

That's the place in the Stockland shopping centre, next to Wild Sage? Have been meaning to go there: is it any good? Regards, Patrick

Re: Dining on Red...That's Papaya Thai! I recognised the place from the lighting fixtures. Loved the food and service there the last time I visited.
Great photos and you've certainly captured the atmosphere of the place Hassy, Leica, Nikon, iPhone

Re: Dining on Red...On the strength of these images I'll definitely need to dine there!
Nicely done. Photography is not a crime, but perhaps my abuse of artistic license is?
Re: Dining on Red...Rodney
That last shot is sublime - great use of DOF to show off the lights while still knowing we're in a busy restaurant. Peter

Re: Dining on Red...
Thanks Mj - the ambience (a little dark and moody) and the food is good
Thanks Peter - although I'm guessing I probably just shot wide open so can't take all the credit D600, D7000, Nikon/Sigma/Tamron Lenses, Nikon Flashes, Sirui/Manfrotto/Benro Sticks

Re: Dining on Red...I quite like the first image, the 3 simple elements (light fixture and two women at separate tables) gel well together

No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
