Progress of my darkroomI have had an operational darkroom for some time, but this week, I picked up a 4x5 enlarger and a new bench on which to bolt it. I also made myself a 16x20 "easel" as I couldn't justify spending $300+ on a brand one. My DIY easel will let me do 12x15, 11x14 and borderless 16x20.

Re: Progress of my darkroomCurrently loading some FP4 into the double film holders before heading downstairs to print some large prints.
Tis a shame I can't make downstairs light tight enough for a printing workshop for the BBQ. Regards, Patrick

Re: Progress of my darkroomvery jealous... my first darkroom was in a garden shed lined with thick black plastic when i lived in the blue mts. Freezing in winter and boiling sweat box in summer- not to mention the spiders....

Re: Progress of my darkroom
Primarily laziness. During the day, there is a fair amount of light that comes in from the side rooms that, whilst could be blocked up, are quite large. Make that pure laziness I can always see what I can do. Regards, Patrick

Re: Progress of my darkroomLovely stuff. I don't shoot enough film right now to warrant building my own darkroom, plus I want to keep my footprint as small as possible in case i have to move again.

In that case, I suggest you take up the wet plate collodion process - very portable (by requirement) and arguably more instant than digital photography. Regards, Patrick

Re: Progress of my darkroomAfter watching this and similar videos and the results these guys are getting, I would love to give it a go. But I need to gain much greater skills with my view camera as it is.
