Gins Lips

Discovered this waterfall and swimming hole last week at Beechmont, just a 1/2 hour drive from home, and another 1/2 hour walk to reach the falls from the car parking area.

We have had next to no rain for the past 10 weeks so the water flow is fairly dismal, can you imagine the falls in flood? A return visit will be on once the rains do come.

This first set of falls can be seen just 10 minutes into the walk, this was the best and only accesible vantage point.



A further 20 minute walk down a fairly step descent you reach the creek and swimming hole.





The walk back to the carpark was much steeper than the descent and certainly got the heart pumping!

This is a view of Beechmont. The entrance to the park and waterfalls is on the left at the bottom of this hill. Binna Burra National Park on the right in the distance.

Some nice images here Geoff. The log in the second looks like a big burnt banana! (Wasn't pinched from Coffs, was it? )

I think sometimes a little less water makes for some interesting falls photography. For mine, #3 is the pick.

#3 is the standout for me.

I think #2 and #3 could benefit from a slight vignette to dull down the bright foreground leaving the waterfall as the bright feature to draw your eye.

The burnt banana log is actually a rock formation. I am guessing that the shape is where the 'Gins Lips' name came from?

I really do need a wider lens. These were all taken with the 24-120 @ 24
