Hot birds

This is my first posting of an image so here goes..



Shot with 70-300 IS USM lens and 50% crop.

Last Friday when temperature was about 45 deg. Bird bath in my front yard.

Welcome to the forum Victor,
you gotta feel for those birds in that heat even though they're a pest.
As for the photo, nice try, I would have liked to see a slightly slower shutter speed to give a little blur to the water and maybe also a bit of a crop so that the bird in the centre is placed on the lower left side.

Phillip is probably right about the crop.

Perhaps you can post the full image (use the img tags to display the image reference within your post) so tat we can perhaps offer better suggestions?

I have tried every which way to imbed the image using the Picasa tags but I only ever get a url link even when ticking the image-only option.
I had read the topic on how to imbed images in FAQ but on finding the tags in Picasa thought the matter had been simplified (that topic's last post was about 2006).

No worries.

When you go to the message composition window, directly above the box where you do the typing, you will see a number of small buttons. "B" (Bold), i(italic) etc. just to the right of the middle of this series you will see one called "Img"; move your cursor to a new line, and press that button: you'll see a pair of tags like this appear.

Move your cursor to the point between these two tags, and then paste your image ink into that position ...

(I've embedded a couple of spaces so that the tags don't work in this post, but this hopefully should get you going; I've also edited your post to check that works, which, as you can see, it seems to.)

I did not notice at the time (haste to get shot) that the ISO setting was on 400 and therefore with aperture of 5.6, I got shutter speed of 1/640 (AEP). Focal length was 200 mm with Canon 60D.
