Olympus 15mm f/8 MFTMy B&H order arrived today, a small distraction from all the bad news I have been receiving of late. In this package, amongst other things was this little lens.
True to the forum thread...here is the first image Cameron

Well I occasionally use my Voigtlander Ultron 40mm f/2 as a body cap.... http://www.flickr.com/groups/nikon_d90/discuss/72157625814742571/ Cameron

Olympus 15mm f/8 MFTI fail to see any usefulness in this lens other than its compact dimension. I would be interested to know what prompted you to purchase it Cam. At a fixed f8 I would think you may struggle in poor light to get anything decent and I would guess the optics are not going to be super sharp?

Re: Olympus 15mm f/8 MFT
I have always been one to play with different things, it is compact, reasonably sharp and best of all...because I was buying a few things from B&H it was cheap ($49 compared to the $99 gouge in this market) it was so light that it didn't even add anything to the postage. I spent the day with this lens on my EP3 today, and truth said I didn't feel restricted by light, this afternoon whilst strolling through the CBD I was still able to get 1/30-1/125 in the shade. It isn't a night time lens, nor an indoor lens, but it is a nice FOV and the (almost) perma focus makes it super snappy. My EP3 is definitely a pocket camera with this lens on, and I did feel a strange liberation using this lens. Cameron

Re: Olympus 15mm f/8 MFTAt $49.oo what a great lens for someone just starting out on a restricted budget! In the hands of a creative photographer this lens could produce gallery quality imagery.

Re: Olympus 15mm f/8 MFTThat first is great Cam - even with the blow outs - in fact the ones on the left add to it for me

Re: Olympus 15mm f/8 MFT
Even in my hands it is producing passable quality images...I wonder what a better photographer could do with it. However it is really a niche/fun lens, you must remember that there is no aperture control. It turns your M4/3 into a half frame Holga that is actually sharp!!
Thanks Rodneyh Cameron

Olympus 15mm f/8 MFTWell you have proved it is useful, so I take it all back. The last is very surprising given the f8 aperture. For $49 you cant go wrong and as Matt states a great way for someone on a limited budget to get started.

Re: Olympus 15mm f/8 MFT
No problems Geoff.....looks like Pentax has decided to copy and produce their own variant as well! As for that last image, it was taken pretty late at night and the only real illumination was with the lights lighting the water from below. Cameron

Re: Olympus 15mm f/8 MFTWhich one would you get? Sachtler FSB-6 or Ace L (new one with the carbon sticks) - both 13LB max weight???
They have the same max weigh limit. Ace is slightly lighter which I prefer because I work with my wife. I don't mind that it is plastic. The Ace is around $800-$950. The FSB is slighly more expensive. I would use it with a Nikon D4 + 70-200 2.8 VR + audio. Which one should I get? It seems to me that the ACE is the same for less.... What do you think? rabi
