Photo printing in Newcastle?Novacastrians can probably help me out:
I'm looking for a place to print 7-8 A4 photos for a reasonable price. There is a Fuji Frontier lab out at Kotara, but other suggestions are welcome (preferably near town). Cheers. - Nick

Nick. The Kodak Lab in Beaumont St Hamilton is VERY good at working with photographers. They can take digital images on cards and do what you want with them. They also know their stuff and I've seen consistently good images both film and digital from them.

Ok thanks, that's what I wanted to hear. Most places do seem to do A4 for around the $8 mark. Are they around this? (Kodak seem a rip off on basic 6x4 prints unless you get many many done.) - Nick

Blue Water Pizza in Queens Wharf Newcastle is great - gourmet pizzas that the Italians would detest but taste bloody good (Roast lamb & potato or tandoori aren't all that Italian!). Also worth looking at is Arriverderci in Glebe Rd, The Junction which has more traditional pizzas plus other Italian. Both of these are reasonably close to where you live. Peter

Cool, thanks. Had already heard of the Blue Water. The Arriverderci is just down the road from me.
Went to that Kodak place: not that impressed with the price $13 for a 8x12. That's $5 over what most places charge. Thanks but no thanks was what I said. - Nick

Just got 19 8x12's printed at the local Kodak shop. They also wanted $13 per photo, except they gave me the extra info that it cost a mere $4 when doing 10+.
Quality is fine, and all turned out well, except for one of a red flower which lacked all oomph. - Nick

Take back the one that's no good and they should redo it for you for free. Tell them how it should look and they can adjust. Peter

.... and I can tell you where all the hidden historical stuff is like the wreck of the Alphonse built into the Stockton breakwater and why the Newcastle Obelisk was built (and what it replaced) and why the shot tower was left in Tyrrell street after they stopped making shot and....

I mentioned it to the woman, (had a look through them on the spot) and as it was the only one that was off she said it was a calibration thing. I thought "eh? - If my monitor's calibration was that fecked, wouldn't they all be off to some extent?" but didn't push the issue as it was getting on in the arvo and my gf was with me. However, I might go back and ask them to sort it. - Nick
