Giotto tripods

Anybody familiar with this brand of tripod?

These are the same people who make (or market) the Rocket blower that we use.

I've looked at their tabletop tripod, and it looks to be pretty much a dead ringer for my Manfrotto. Although I've not an opportunity to compare the two side by side, the castings for the legs seemed to be very similar to those of the Manfrotto.

Quality seemed to be up there too.

But that's my only experience with them thus far.

I own a cheapy of theirs and it's crap. Despite the claims (Maybe just store claims? My mum bought it for my brother and me) that it would hold an SLR fine, it just doesn't. Mainly in the horizontal plane, as it is one of those 3 axis ones.

Looks like the 808000 but I can't be sure.

I have one of the older models too, its not as functional as the one featured.

It had been sitting in our store at work for years and when it eventully got to my heavy hands - with in days the winding arm had broken off at a most unrepairable spot. I had to get a quick release seat ordered at a cost of $20 at Fletchers (they did carry them then)

I took it away on a trip with me and the spirit level bubble dropped out in my bag. Its pretty sturdy down at the bottom end as the aluminium config is braced well, the plastic head and material integrity however do let my model down. I still use it though

I have a Giottos monopod, quality not bad but is hopelessly unstable.
