Perfect light at the Promised Land

Decided to take the picnic set, boil the billy, and shoot a few pics at the Promised Land, a favourite shooting haunt of mine. With the missus, of course. Beautiful overcast day. There are some shooting locations in this area where the light is always spectacular.

Canon 60D plus 50mm F1.2.

Lovely set, but. I find the b&W has a bit too much
contrast. The colours pics are all great, I love their
colours and compositions. Of the two pics about your
missus, I prefer the second portrait, the first is a bit
soft; the second looks more "natural" and I can see
a glint in her eyes. I hope you both had a great time.

The second is freaking awesome ozi (I dream of finding a nice road with overhanging greenery like that :))

I reckon the first is too contrasty/hyper detailed for the scene you are portraying

The last two are nice (the last being my favourite - because it's how I like to shoot) but I think the white balance may be off - I get "greenish" feeling with the skin?

Thanks Zaffs & Rodney. Yes, the first is an experiment. I purchased the NIKs clooection last week and tried to use the Silver Efex filter on the bridge, but the filter doesn't work. I will have to re-install it and try again. I think this particular effect was done with Topaz adjust.

As for the white balance, my MBP screen is not calibrated, so I have no idea how the image will look on other computers. It looks fine on mine. It most probably needs a touch of warming up.

As for the location, it is a spectacular place, and about 25 minutes drive from our front door. We are spoilt for these places on the Coffs coast, but unfortunately there is never enough time to explore. A nice 4WD would also come in handy...
