POTW 10th September 2013In place of the Stark mans POTW selection this week, the members of DSLRuser will have to unfortunately suffer another selection by me at this time
This weeks POTW was actually a pleasant challenge, its good to see alittle diversity in the forum images and it was interesting to trawl thru the threads and view all the images. Thanks to those who have posted images, Chris your plethora of new and old is certainly filling a gap in the forum and there was certainly a few POTW worthy images there, however there was a single image that caught my eye, maybe it was the political nature of it, maybe not, however it certainly caused me to stop for longer than normal and thus, a litmus test for a good image in my books. Well done MattK, this image from your syrian protest series is my pick for the week. It is a cleverly composed image and also well timed, to the average hobbyist it may look like a easy image to nail, however there are several elements that have been tied together to really make it stand out. The use of the flag as the lead in, the perfectly placed person with the banner and of course the Legacy street banners all nicely time and captured. full thread here http://www.dslrusers.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=43845&start=453093#p453093 gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: POTW 10th September 2013I heartily agree that this is a worthy POTW. Gerry has explained in detail why. Just glad it was not one of Matt’s trees

Re: POTW 10th September 2013It's certainly different and colourful. Congratulations!
Re: POTW 10th September 2013
Thanks Gerry; a great selection. Just for everyone's FYI, I've recently started a new job, which entails way too much traffic, plus has some restrictions on my net access. Add to that the fact that this week (and next) I've been volunteered into a support "lockdown" basically means I get home at night, eat, and crash. And weekends seem to be getting shorter too, with all of the stuff I'm doing at the station. Four hours of training today; five hours of live OB, plus setup and teardown, plus one hour of normal broadcasting next Sunday. But it's all fun: feel free to stop by the Burwood Festival at Burwood Park next Sunday and say hi. There'll actually be a display of classic cars there too; well worth a visit. g.
