Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

softness in the background and the colour was produced by the early morning mist lifting off the water........

Beautiful shot big pix - hope you don’t mind me mentioning my pet hate and that is waterlines that are not straight - other than that this is a stunning shot :D

check the masts on the boats and yes they do lean a little back but all masts lean. The water line is the land not being a straight line but one moving away from the camera so therefore it could not be straight or the boat in the foreground would not be straight

Bixpix - great capture. My guess is this is Lake Macquarie somewhere. Did you bump up the saturation a little (on my monitor this has a distinctive purple hue to it) or was it just the colours of the dawn doing this? Rgeardless I really like the shot

does your monitor need profilling.........yes and yes, would be a straight answer, but as a large poster print the purple is a very soft hue and adds to the overall image and softness

Nope - use a spyder on it regularly.

No offense but had to ask, as I had not been happy with the quality of my prints I had been getting till I my monitors were profiled and found out that I had been printing using the wrong print drivers. I had forgot to set them up, they were installed, as this is a one off action when I upgraded my computers. Just plainly forgot to set to Espon USB Drivers, my prints now are a great improvement using generic Espon paper profiles but I guess this also leaves some room for futher improvement and more toys

Love the shot Big Pix, well done.

I like the way the water ripples distort the reflection but the water in the background appears nice and smooth.

Have you printed this image?

One of the little things that we have tendency to overlook with BIG results. When I first calibrated everything I couldn't belive the difference it made. Of course I then had to calibrate my printer since I'd been adjusting it to match my uncalibrated monitor :oops:

Lovely image - real quality in the composition and colours. :D

I don't think there is any issue with the waterline - the front of the boat in the foreground appears "square" ie the vertical spar is just that - vertical.
