Photo book recommendations

Postby Geoff M on Mon Feb 03, 2014 11:28 pm

Hi All, Can anybody recommend a reliable company for photo books?

Following my recent wanderings across the globe I want to put together a coffee table style book of the images.

I have used Blurb on a couple of
occasions but the last one was a little disappointing as all the images came
out much darker than expected despite using the recommended colour space etc.

I see that they now have a specific
ICC profile (perhaps this will improve the final print output) which I have downloaded but when I export from Lightroom the profile does not show in the list of available options.

I think stubbsy used Momento Pro.

I have also used them for books and calendars and found them to be quite good. I have been making photo calendars for several years.

However, having recently acquired a MacBook Pro, I used Apple for my 2014 calendar and I was absolutely knocked out with the quality. I give them to family members at Christmas and without exception all of them said that it was the best calendar yet.

They also do photo books, but i have not done one of those at this time.

Here is the link - you may have to order via iPhoto or Aperture:

I have seen a few examples of books from 'My Publisher'. They are very good and very cost effective if you wait for their special offers. They are an American company and I will probably use them myself when I finish my next project.

I recently did a photo book through Apple/iphoto. My second son went to Israel and took my X10. His photos were pretty good as everything was shot in auto/exr mode. I did the post processing.

I'm sure there's better quality products than the Apple one, but it was cheap ($40), and very fast. All depends on how much you want to spend.

Thanks for the input. I am running a PC so iPhoto/Aperture is out for me. I will take a gander at Momento and My Publisher though.
