After the rainIt was raining this morning on the NSW central coast, so when it cleared up this afternoon, we took a short drive down to Norah head lighthouse, near Toukley.

Re: After the rainOz,
For the second of these, why not try a crop removing most of the water? Just a thin line of water, rather than the 5050 mix you've given this. g.

Re: After the rainI tend to agree with the above comment.

Re: After the rainEither crop of the second image works well, the problem we have is there are too many options available. The lighthouse image would perhaps work better if it was not centralised? I do like the tonal quality.

Re: After the rainI'd probably not have gone quite as far with the crop. Never bloody satisfid.
But my question is, which version do you prefer? g.

Re: After the rain
I prefer the first with a 50/50 spread of grey. However, I'm usually wrong. Ask Robyn. President, A.A.A.A.A (Australian Association Against Acronym Abuse)

Re: After the rainProbably I should have been more specific with my comments. Leaving the horizon on the first lower line of the rule of thirds and making the ship fall in the first left line of the thirds would might have improve it. But, we all know that rules do not always work best and we have seen photos that break this rule and work even better. I guess it is all about experimentation and ending with an image that ticks all your boxes.
