Prize winning trip.

Well last year I entered a Facebook Q1 private apartments photo competition with one of my city scape photos of the gold coast. I personally didn't think mud of the image but I won, the prize was 3 nights accommodation in a 3 bedroom apartment. My husband and I decided we desperately needed time to regroup and get away without the kids, so we went up this week from monday the 23rd to yesterday afternoon (26th feb). Well being child free meant time to relax and explore and sleep and re-energise. Whilst there I made use of my time by taking the odd photo, and purchased a 14mm Fujinon lens on gumtree for my newly started fuji collection. I have to say I am in love with my Fuji xt1. It is truly a fantastic camera. I went down behind the council offices and shot a few more shots of the city with reflections and well I am stoked with what I got. I also got up at an ungodly hr (4:30am) to get down to Currumbin for some sunrise photos on the rocks. Sadly the sunrise itself by the time we got there was a fizzer as the showers kept making me duck for cover under the big rock with another 5/6 photographers. I occasionally ran out and took a few shots as the weather began to clear, when I noticed a Father guiding his two sons into the sea before heading in himself into crazy rough surf conditions. (rough for me a country lady). So I fired of a few shots, one to get him exposed correctly and the other as a silhouette. Both of which I am really happy with. I hope you like what I share. Definitely going back for a second go in september when I return with all the family.

Nice shots Kristen, especially like the 2nd. A colour blast.

Did you get a good deal on the 14mm?

Of course, the value of your photography has risen significantly since you now have an ONA camera bag... :biglaugh:

I did get a great deal on the 14mm. The young guy was from brisbane and actually by chance had to be at another one of his businesses on the gold coast on the wednesday (he didn't look old enough to own a business- I must be getting older!! ) so he dropped it off to me at the q1 foyer saving us a trip to brisbane. He had it listed for $600 but I got it for $500. Optically and cosmetically like new, he purchased the 10-24 and no longer wanted the 14 so I jumped at the chance to pick up a great lens for a great price.

In regards to the ONA bag, its the best, made traveling a breeze...... they didn't count it as weight of my carry on either which was lucky as I was over as it was!! they thought it was my hand bag!! lol

Zafra..... it does look like it, it certainly was not intentional!! I just liked the silhouette!!

I like the impact of the last image. It is very strong and would make a great cover for a surfing magazine.
