I think that you should convert the second to mono, with selective colour. Just on the socks.

Good action shots grabbing their emotions, their pain. I agree on Gary's observations on your subjects; the testosterone count is in inverse proportion to their IQ divided by their age . I couldn't help noticing that today's youth seem more childish than when my generation was their age and we did stupidities of epic proportions, perhaps is my senility at play here.

Anyway, I like your pictures Matt and I second a second version highlighting the socks; it might be a second good option of the same. Do you think the young man is colour blind?

I have been told that odd coloured socks is a common fashion choice among todays teenagers. I must confess that I have also taken this path on the odd occasion....but not by conscious deliberation.

Sadly I can confirm that the fashion is nowadays for boys to wear odd socks. I couldn't believe my eyes when I went sock shopping for my son to find odd socks selling for the same price as normal matching socks.... I mean if its fashion why buy odd ones, the washing machine eats socks all the time leading to a pile of mismatched socks..... mind you bright yellow ones wouldn't make it in my front door they look hideous!!

This thread is reminding me of a colour blind work colleague I had a few years ago. We all knew when him and the wife have had a "domestic" for he showed up to work with different colour socks, loud neckties or mismatching suit trousers and jackets, and even shoes - he always wore the same cut suits (double breasted) and design of shoes. Sometimes, he would return angry from class after some student had made some inappropriate comment muttering to himself "...that f&$@^*% b*@*& had her revenge and the last word!". Then, he would turn on me asking: why the devils didn't you say something? Like what? Like I am f&$@^*% wearing a brown and a grey shoe?

But all in all, I 'm grateful that the fashion of showing underwear or the hairy backside crack is slowly waning. I never fully understood why the ugliest people feel compelled to show off the ugliest parts of their anatomies. This is my definitely senility talking!

P.S. It's a definite proof of good photography when we discuss the photographed subject's idiosyncrasies; rather than, the photographer's techniques.

Actually, I believe the fashion trend was started by some old codger by the name of Edmund Capon
The AGNSW used to sell "Art Director's Socks" (a mismatched pair) for MORE than two pairs of matched socks.

Unless of course he or she has a Nikon D800 mounted to the nose of the board....in which case they are photographers.
