POTW- 4-08-2015

Postby Matt. K on Tue Aug 04, 2015 1:21 pm

This weeks pick is a quirky shot taken by sirhc55. It is a self portrait, albeit a very unusual one. Technically very interesting but I'm also intrigued by the composition which, for some unknown reason, just works. I also like that the image space is packed tight full of subject matter yet somehow does not appear to be over cluttered. Oh yes, and the focal point of any portrait, the eyes, is placed precisely, (almost), at the intersection of 1 of the points of the rule of thirds. To cap it all off the image has some lovely graceful lines and curves.

Nice image Chris. Very quirky. I actually turned it upside down to see what it looked like. That was easier than standing on my head.

Wow! Thanks Matt and all of you guys. I disappear for many months to return and get POTW. The shot was taken with my 60mm f/2.8 Olympus lens and was simply taken as a test of the lens.
