Postby gstark on Wed Jan 06, 2016 7:27 am

Just received a presser from our friends at Nikon Oz, announcing availability of the D5, KeyMission, and SnapBridge.

Here's the content of the presser ...

Nikon Australia wrote:Nikon Australia is pleased to announce the launch of the next-generation flagship model, the Nikon D5, set to expand photographic achievements for professional photographers. With a phenomenal new autofocus system, highest standards of expanded ISO sensitivity, turbocharged workflow and exceptional durability, the D5 is the most powerful camera in Nikon history.

With a host of new features developed by Nikon, the D5 has plenty to offer professional photographers needing to keep up with the constant change of pace under a variety of conditions.

The new 153-point autofocus (AF) system and a stable viewfinder image makes tracking moving subjects easy, even with high-speed continuous shooting at approximately 12 fps*. Visual aesthetics are heightened with the collaboration of a new Nikon FX-format CMOS sensor and a new EXPEED 5 image-processing engine, producing the highest standard ISO sensitivity in Nikon history with up to an ISO of 102400. This helps to expand photographic possibilities by liberating photographers from lighting restrictions, not only with the capture of still photos but also with recordings of 4K UHD (3840 × 2160) movies.

Workflow is notably amplified in time and function, as more new and improved features and functions are introduced with the 20.8-megapixel D5. The high-resolution touch screen LCD monitor, fast communications with both wired networks via built-in Ethernet connector and wireless networks**, alongside double memory card slots*** make for a highly efficient workflow.

D5 Key Features:

· New AF system that demonstrates excellent response to moving subjects and tracking performance, even under a variety of circumstances

· High-speed continuous shooting at approximately 12 fps with a stable viewfinder image that makes tracking moving subjects easy

· Higher standard ISO sensitivities that ensure superior image quality within the most frequently used high sensitivity range

· Cinematic brilliance with 4K UHD (30p) movie capability

· A high-resolution 3.2-inch, approximately 2,359k-dot touch screen LCD monitor

· Greatly increased communications performance with both wired and wireless networks

· Versatile image storage options with double memory card slots for XQD and CompactFlash cards

· The Wireless Transmitter WT-6, available separately, comes in handy for high-speed wireless network communications

In addition, Nikon Australia is proud to announce the launch of the new KeyMission 360, a wearable action camera capable of recording 360 video in 4K UHD, the first product to be introduced in Nikon’s new action camera category.

With an image sensor and lens combination on two opposite sides of the camera, captured images are combined in-camera to create a single realistic and high definition 360° image output. Ready to go on striking journalistic experiences, life’s noteworthy milestones or on soul-searching journeys, the camera is waterproof to the depth of 30 metres even without a separate housing. It also measures up reliably against dust, shock and low temperatures, with its design ready to facilitate a wide spectrum of outdoor and leisure activities. Completing the design is an electronic vibration reduction mechanism, which is enabled via applications during playback, to reduce the effects of camera shake.

Nikon Australia is also pleased to announce the launch of SnapBridge connectivity, a new and innovative software powered by Bluetooth® low energy technology that enables seamless sharing of moments in real time across smart devices.

SnapBridge via Bluetooth low energy enables continuous and immediate transfer of images from the camera to a smart device as they are captured in real-time. This is achieved automatically without a need to activate image transfer from the camera, while also keeping power consumption low for both. Users can also continue to enjoy mobile internet connectivity during image transfer, allowing them to check their e-mail or access social media even as their photographs are being synced between the devices.

SnapBridge Key Features:

· Simple and intuitive setup, users only need to configure the connection just once. Up to five smart devices can be paired with the camera*

· Automatic synchronisation of location and time information, SnapBridge adapts the location and time settings from a user’s smart device and automatically synchronises the camera’s respective information to the former

· Seamless transfer of images, even during shooting. The camera intuitively switches from Bluetooth low energy to Bluetooth to transfer data even when the camera is turned off

· Credit information can be conveniently embedded into the image using the SnapBridge application

· Freedom with the remote shooting function** that allows users to confirm through-the-lens images on a smart device screen in real time before releasing the shutter via the application

· Seamless and easy sharing to social media applications supported by SnapBridge. With a registered Nikon ID, users will receive unlimited online storage for 2-MP images on NIKON IMAGE SPACE

Designed with radio-controlled Advanced Wireless Lighting functionality and a cooling system that enables more than 100 continuous full-powered flashes, this Speedlight is a compelling addition to the Nikon ecosystem.

SB-5000 Key Features:
