POTW 22-Mar-2016Here is this weeks winner of the POTW. It is a portrait by zafra52 and it has some classical features and some not quite so common. The classical feature is the composition with the red garment creating a circular frame that locks the viewers eye into the portrait. Circles and triangles are the go with portraits when you get in close. The uncommon feature is the combination of colours? I would have loved to have seen a green background to really bounce the red forward....but this sepia seems to work very well...but is a strange choice....and that is why I like it. One serious criticism is that the subject has closed eyes and I feel that this lets the image down considerably. Also, the darkening of the 4 corners is slightly overdone. However, a wonderful, unusual portrait it is and so the Guernsey.
Well done zafra52! Regards
Matt. K

Re: POTW 22-Mar-2016Absolutely top class photo. I have to disagree Matt, the closed eyes give this a mythical, and may I say, a religious look. Deep in thought or meditation.
