Save a few hundred on a new laptop??

Postby tnzz on Fri Mar 18, 2005 2:43 pm

I'm sorry this is a bit off topic but I don't have acess to the other sections.

Does anyone want to save about a couple of hundred dollars on a new laptop computer? The exact amount will be negociated.

I am looking to cross a few photo related items off my wish list and have have an option of doing a salary sacrifice on a laptop. Although not necessary, I want someone who has acess birddog's bargains or is willing to order stuff from oversea since I am always reluctant to do this. Someone from Perth would be ideal.

If anyone is interested, pm me. I will check and respond on sunday or monday.

So you want to swap a laptop you obtain under false pretences, for some photographic equipment. I'm surprised this post is still here....

Salary Sacrifice doesn't mean he gets it by illegitimate means. Your boss pays you less but instead gives you something of benefit eg. a car or a laptop. The way it most likely works is that you get the laptop and the boss writes it off on his taxreturn.

No shit. Obtaining a laptop through SS and then swapping it for other stuff would not go down too well with the ATO, should they find out.

Cheers

You're quite correct on a number of counts.

It is off topic.

And you do not have access to the other sections.

And if you keep this up, you never will have either: if I or any of the other moderators find out that there has been any action taken on this attempt to circumvent the rules of this forum, the parties involved will find themselves banned from this system.

tnzz, please understand why the rules are in place, and get with the program. If you don't like those rules, then I'm perfectly happy with that; you may leave.

What you have proposed is not, to my knowledge, legal, and I will not tolerate you proposing these sorts of schemes here.

Please take note that this is your first warning.

And you only ever get one.

For the record, I've had some discussions with tnzz about this posting.

Regardless of the legalities of the proposal as it pertains to salary sacrifice, It is my belief that parts of the offer included an attempt to bypass the rules of this forum, and to me, that is a most serious transgression.

Tnzz agrees that his post was not appropriate, and apologises for making such a post.

This topic is now closed.
