hand held long tele shotThis shot was taken with the Nikon D70, Sigma 100-300mm f4 EX HSM and Sigma 1.4x TC, 1/320s f/5.6 at 420.0mm, hand held. With the TC, f/5.6 is the max aperture.

Thanks, Glen. This lens is big and heavy, but balances well for me on the d70. Without the weight, I can't hold this focal length at such a low shutter speed. Even then, the keeper rate goes down. Continuous shooting mode is a blessing for me.

You must have very steady hands Kerry, that is very sharp. And a very good shot too.

Gorgeous shot, cute subject, but he looks a bit skinny and undernourished
I think you've found the sweet spot on that lens. Steve.

I love the pic and don't mind the leaves. But I'd be inclined to clone out the OOF white bit to the right of the squirrel. Well done.
Hey Kerry, good to see you here sharing pics, saves me from going to DPreveiw. LOL Loverly pic but couldn't expect much eles from you.

Thanks to all, for the very kind comments. This guy was very timid and quick moving. I don't recall how many shots I was able to take, but I do recall just pressing the shutter and letting the camera do its magic in continuous mode. One of the last shots was just a bit of blurred squirrel and a lot of grass.

Sorry that I have come in late on this one Kerry. Great shot: just love animals. BTW: just had the opportunity to look at your pbase site, fantastic work there as well.

hmmm, cloudy vision? Maybe that's a sign that you need a new lens.... Like one that has more clarity to allow you to see the loose screws. my gallery of so-so photos
