Picture of the week 21.3.05 - Dad's HandsI chose this photo on it's simplicity and real capture of human emotion and 'life' and how fragile life is, both when we are so very young, but all through our years. The transition to B&W has been done beautifully and to me was a very obvious choice as POTW. Congrats to AlistairF - the comments regarding this image already by our forum members reflect that this is a unanimously valued photo, or should I say 'moment in time' that has been captured and remembered forever! I definately think this is a frame it and hang it on the wall image. To see or re-visit this, go to:

Well done Alistair, this is a sensational image which I believe has really impressed a lot of people. Beautifully handled emotionally and technically. Congratulations.

Alistair,
Well done; congratulations. As soon as I saw this image I was thinking it was PoW material, and I'm thrilled that Geoff chose it. g.

Congratulations to Alistair for a wonderfully emotive picture and to Geoff for his pick - looks like B&W is becoming popular

Thanks People, Flattery will get you everywhere.
We've got our own baby due in a few months, so this image was good practice when our little bundle arrives. So expect to see more baby images into the future. I really find this forum an inspiration to improve my images. I've had the D70 for about 9 months now and have learnt much in that time about getting the most out of the camera, mainly thanks to you guys. I look forward to putting more back into the forum more than I take away and helping the influx of newbies understand white balance, nodal points and hyperfocals. Alistair
Congratulations Alistair.
It really is a sensational image and completely deserves a nice print out and a framing. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

A beutiful image and a well deserved POTW. Somehow I missed this when it was first posted. Thanks to Geoff I now have the pleasure of seeing it now. A great example of just how effective black and white can be. Peter

Congratulations Alistair.
I was hoping this was going to win POTW. It is such a beautiful image and is brilliant in B&W. Just love it! I'm looking forward to the baby pics of your newborn, Alistair. There is nothing quite like them!
Excellent shot and well deserved winner for the week. I also missed this one first time around.
Looks like dad had a nervous wait based on the state of his nails Cheers Dean I intend to live forever. So far, so good.

I missed this one first time round but was told about it from dad (Rick). He was impresed by it enough for me to go find the post and have a look. Again well done. W00DY Andrew
Nikon D3 and lot's of Nikon stuff!!
Another excellent choice for Picture of the Week. Great work, Alistair and judges.
This great board feature does two things, especially with this week's winner; It recognizes an excellent shot and inspires all of us to try some new ideas and styles we might not have otherwise envisioned. Bravo and bravo. Hard work pays off in the future. Laziness pays off now.
Very well said Steve. Greg - - - - D200 etc
