This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.
Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.
Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

I was driving home from work and the light was pretty good so I decided to pull over and hike up the mountain on the other side of the highway.
I ran across the highway, jumped over a ditch, clawed through trees (there was no trail but there were power lines so I knew there was a clearing) and about 35 minutes later clouds moved in and covered the sun. I got sort of pissed off and through a huge dead stick. Thought it looked cool so I started taking pictures.
Kind of silly but I took about ten of these and was satisfied and went thrashing through the bush back to the car.
When I got home I sort of wanted to take some more stills of the plant. Not wanting to do the same thing though, I took this one.
You may think that this was photoshopped, but I actually took a long exposure on a rotating table and just sent it spinning with the shutter open. Could be sharper as the green areas twitched a little bit, but I had fun experimenting.
Then I grabbed a glass and experimented with these candle holders that were nearby. Focusing on this was really really difficult.
I'd like to hear your thoughts.

That stick is silly 
The Plant / Bulb thing, if you Crop that above where the stones are so you see only plant, I think thats a Ripper.
The Glass , well hat makes me dizzy, I have had a few tonight

But seriously. The second one is great AND clever. I agree with mic, though a judicious crop. First one - next time get more angry and use a bigger stick. I think this would work much better as this one is too wimpy.
ANd it looks VERY cold there. I'm chilly and it's 19 degrees C

Thanks a lot for the comments guys.
I did try with a couple of bigger sticks but when you're holding cam in one hand and throwing the sticks with the other, it was tricky with the big ones and my shots ended up with the stick a few feet off the ground. THey look pretty funny as a series though especially. Thanks for the suggestion on the crop, I crop a little less frequently now, preferring to get it right in frame for printing and framing purposes. With this one I wasn't quite sure, though I think your advice seems sound. I'm not quite satisfied with the candle and glass. I took about three shots and arranged them everywhere and just couldn't figure out exactly what I wanted. Thanks again for the comments.
