Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent. Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature. Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread. Back to BasicsThough that I'd go back a revisit a subject that almost everyone encounters in Photography 101. I'm sure someone can come and easily blow my doors off, but they're always colorful, interesting and tasty. Besides, it's a slow night.

I really like this shot Steve. Thanks for posting it - basics are good.
If I HAD to offer some criticism it would be the loss of detail at the base of the red capsicum, but I'm sure you've spotted that yourself. Simon

Agree with everyone else... but this is the place for critique so here goes...
I agree I would have put the yellow one to the rear having the bright one in front draws the eye to quickly... And the rear of the bottom capsicums is a little to dark... I dont know if this was impossible to avoid given your setup (studio?) but a reflector might have helped down there... New page

I tend to agree with you. I placed them only considering size, but really should have thought about colour more. I tried to bounce a little light back on the left side with a reflector to avoid more highlights, but maybe that was in a different frame. Thanks for the good suggestions.

You could look at the photo in a different perspective: The light comes from the right into the two light coloured capsicums and then leads out to dark through the red. This, to me, is a nice progression and gives the pic more of a still life feel
