Digital Photography segment on 2GB

Anyone in Sydney area that's interested, there's an 'OK' segment on at the moment on 2GB. They're pretty basic, but at least the guy's a Nikon lad, and does keep recommending our camera

Could try using a Neutral Density filter, or maybe closing the curtains

Otherwise, only other option is to reduce the aperture, but that will affect Depth of Field.

Others may have other ideas - suggest you start a new thread in the Beginners questions area - will get a few responses there

Hi Murrey,
If you need to simulate a lower ISO because your photo has too much noise, then there are programs such as Noise Ninja that can fix that.

OK - if that's the case, you should be able to get away with higher aperture # (does that mean a higher aperture or lower? I'm not sure - it makes the hole smaller, but makes the aperture # higher.)

Otherwise, I've tried the ND filters with varying success.

Depending on the speed the water is going, you'll get away with a second or more

Used a Graduated ND filter on this one, F14 @ 2.5secs (200ISO)...

My immediate suggestion would be to buy a D2x.

My second suggestion would be to perhaps try to pull the "film" the way you do with an analog camera... on these, what you do is shoot on raw and over expose. You will lose a bit of control, but you should be able to have a good play with it.

Why would you be wanting a lower ISO?

What is the problem you're seeing that suggests a lower ISO as the solution?

While you can certainly fiddle with the EV compensation settings, I'd like to know what the eventual goal is, so that we can address the real, rather than a percieved, problem.

Wow, this forum being recognised in the mainstream media.

To fake ISO 100, shoot raw an image at ISO 200 1 stop overexposed (ie. with exp comp set to +1EV), then bring it back down in Nikon Capture or an equivalent raw converter. This brings your exposures back down to normal, and the shutter speed and aperture combination will have been 1 stop less than what they would have been at ISO200. This only works if your original captured image does not have no blown highlights (very unforgiving with any digital SLRs).
