Raw/Basic/Fine/Medium quality comparison.Well, all the photos i had taken before, i had taken in JPG medium because i only had a 512mb sandisk ultra II and i thought that the quality settings don't really make a big difference.
My dad then bought me a 1gb sandisk CF and i thought that i might do a test to see if i might convert to RAW. Well, here are the results: Well, as you can see, RAW really is superiour to the rest. Especially in fine detail like the row of books in the bottom. And, you can change the WB with raw which would come in really handy. If you havn't already, convert to RAW! I agree totally about RAW, I will never go back.
It annoyed me muchly that on my recent NZ trip, 2GB wasn't enough... so I shot a lot of photos in large JPG, and they just don't have the same quality / adjustability.
Thommo,
for that reason I got myself a battery powered external HDD with inbuilt card reader thanks to you may know who. Last year $240 for 40GB HDD external, battery powered storage compared to nowadays I guess $100 for 1 GB SD card is much more economical. I'm planning to go overseas later this year and I will appreciate the external storage. Cheers CD
Where can i purchase one of these? D300|D70|24-70mm|70-200mm VR II|10.5mm Fisheye|70-300VR|50mm F1.8|Rokinon 85mm f1.4|SB-900/800/600

G'day Monty, I ended up getting a 40Gb PSD (no screen) for about $275 (inc GST and delivered) The PD7X. I think the different providers won't be much different in price. I bought mine as I was going away camping in the mountains and didn't want to have to buy s...loads of CF cards, The PD7X dumps a full 1G card in about 3 mins while you're using the other...
