My son's eye taken today at Birddogs with a 90mm macro (forget what brand, but it wasn't a Nikon!).

That's the one! Couldn't remember whether it was Sigma or Tamron, so thought it best not to say - thanks :)

So your son did open his eye and keep still for this excellent shot. The Tamron 90mm has an extremely good reputation and your photo supports this. :D

The detail and sharpness seems terrific! Can almost make you guys out in the reflections... Seems it was a nice day outside...

Out of curiosity, what aperture was used, I couldn't seem to get any EXIF?

Aperture: f/8.0
ISO: 400 Why? Because that's what it was on last time I used the camera!
Focal Length: 90mm (135mm 35mm)
Exposure Time: 0.01s (1/100)
Exposure Program: Aperture priority
Exposure Bias: -0.67

Would be handy to have the ISO in the viewfinder details huh...

Now that I've looked at it again... that's a pretty amazing shot Leon...
You can see the individual little muscles that control the iris...
Shame about the reflections, but there's probably not a lot you could have done about those (maybe a polarising filter would have helped???)
Pretty impressive nevertheless...
