AF points

i asked this question in the 'beginners' forum too, but thought there might be some tips and tricks to this.

anyway, is it advisable to use the side AF points (left and right) when shooting vertical shots? or the center AF point is the way to go? because i noticed that using the center AF point, you tend to move the camera more when recomposing.

If you can use the side AF points then use them. You don't alway have to use the middle af point and recompose. It is only when you dont have enough contrast to auto-focus that you use the centre focusing point.

I am not sure there is an answer to this as it would depend on where you want to focus. If you are shotting vertical and the focus subject is to the right of the frame then I would personally use the right AF point.

lets say the subject is boy standing, and you want to shoot full frame.

In this instance I would position the right (top) AF point over the boys eyes and use that as the focal point).

will this affect the metering if let say we're on spot or center weighted metering?
