Three Golden Faces

These little flowers only show their bright faces for a few hours a day and I usually miss it. Just happened to be in there at the right time today.
This is overly sharpened for an artificial effect that pops out. You may disagree with that. It also would have been nice to get rid of the little dead bits, but I failed to see them at the time and their just a little too hard to invisibly PP out at this point.

There is a 100% improvement in the image color (and detail) by going to directly to Pixspot and bringing up this image on their large presentation window.

Wow! That's a bright shot. I like it, my only suggestion would be to blur the background.

Have you tried to bump a green up a tad as it takes out the saturation of the photo for me...even though it's the background

Thanks all. And PiroStitch, that's was a good tip! I punched-up the green and re-linked the original image to the new version. Makes the dead bits look a little less obvious too.

Glen - You used past tense "would" and present tense "present" challenge. I had completely forgotten about the "Challenge." Did I miss it?

Steve the present challenge is "3", so that is the reason for the present tense (challenge close 30th April from memory), the would is I don't believe a displayed image is eligible and every image must be anonymous, which clearly yours now isn't. Great shot though.

I went looking for the "dead bits" until I realised the photo had been edited and re-linked, doh!

They almost seem to jump out at me, the colour is so bold and strong... Didn't seem over-sharpened either...

I think Boxerboy had a good idea with blurring the background greenery, which would probably be pretty easy by selecting the strong yellow petals and then inverting the selection for blurring, lots of contrast between the petals and the green background so the selection should be easy... Would make 'em stand out even more...

Yeah, the strong yellows make this one very easy to isolate the background, that's how I quickly brought up the greens in the background and re-posted with in a few short minutes. I'll have to try both soft focusing and blurring the background and seeing which works to better effect.

Re: Oversharpening - If you go to the Pixspot viewing you can see what I'm referring to, but I have to agree that here it looks pretty much on target.

Right now I'm packing my bag to go take pictures at a place called Huntington Library (and Gardens) near Pasadena, CA. About 150 acres of botanical gardens and rare books.
