The home of Football in the North East of EnglandIt's not the most spectacular picture ever taken, but it's a place of great importance to the people of the North East (and Werewolf
) - St James', home of Newcastle United FC. 1/80 f6.3 ISO 200 Hand held I took this last night in the middle of a rain shower with my new (Ebay special again!) second hand Sigma 14mm f3.5 Ultra Wide. It's not the easiest thing in the world to shoot with, but it amazes me how much you can get in frame, even if your stood right on top of it! Suprised how sharp it is, I'm off up the coast to Bamburgh Castle this weekend, so hopefully get some nice landscape shots (with my feet in them!) CC
Bummer. Neither of your pics are showing up for me either. Strange that only a few people's shots are showing up and the rest are not.

Charlie - ignore the Aussie’s saying that football is soccer - we know the truth
I have found that wideangle lenses enable hand holding at much lower speeds due to the greater depth of field - I have gone to around 1/6th sec with the Sigma 12-24mm. BTW - great shot Chris

Awesome although i do disagree that the hoem of football in NE England is St James Park. Elland Road would be that place (Ok, maybe not this season, but it will return sooner or later. You mark my words:) )

Glen - the rest of the world calls it football, because they aren't clever enough to understand our versions of football *** When getting there is half the fun! ***
Killakoala takes the bait Nice one Sheepie, but Rugby Union and Rugby League are both English as well as soccer and AFL was created by (half Irish) cricketers to keep fit during the winter season and of course cricket is also English So na-na-na na naaaah Steve.

C'mon guys............we all know soccer is the REAL football
Great stadium, I was there a few years back for an England vs Albania World Cup match. Instead of charging my c/card 32.00 pound per ticket, they stuffed up and only charged us 3.20 each! Sometimes you get lucky..... I was born in the shadow of St James Park, and despite switching my allegience to Man City in 1976, I still have a soft spot for my geordie mates! Even when they're fighting each other! Nice shot Charlie. Whilst yer at Bamburgh how about treating us to a few shots of Warwick or Dunstanborough Castles too? Wollongong Wolves, Manchester City, Newcastle Utd. D70 Freak!
Went to the recent England International at St James' - it was absolutley buzzing!
Was going to go to last nights european game but after their on pitch hand bag session at the weekend I didn't bother. I think plans may have changed and we could be going to the Lakes over on the other side of the country, either way they are great places to go with a camera (and we will get up the coast soon!) CC
We are sir but however much we need the extra revenue and it does look great from the drawings (http://www.stadiumguide.com/ashburtongrove.htm) I fear it just won't feel like Arsenal anymore
Don't worry Soulboy, it's the fans that make the stadium glow. It will still be a difficult place for visiting teams to play at AND there'll be even more Arsenal supporters there too, so even more intimidating.
Steve.

You can keep Rugby League Killa, but I think that at this wonderful moment in time Rugby Union is Welsh Cheers, John

lol The Welsh? The Men with Silver Ferns on their hearts will again show their rightful place in Union royalty. Pity they can't do it at World Cup time! *** When getting there is half the fun! ***
Bring it on... I can't wait for 2007... Cheers, John

Ok, I'm truly sorry for that nasty wisecrack. I really didn't mean to insult the baboons in that manner. g.

How anybody can call Aussie Rules, Football I don't know. They spend most of the time with the ball in their hands. Football, in my mind will and always will be played with a round ball involving no hand contact only by that of the goal keeper. Darryl (aka Kipper)
