It'll take a bit of getting used to - I found the absolute positioning a bit hard to start with. Once you've got it though, got to love the pressure sensitivity!

I could never work the hand eye co-ordination thing. It is a wierd sensation writing on the pad and having it appear on the screen, now if they could get the screen to appear on the pad face now that would be something I would buy!
Having said that our designer at work swears that the tablet is the best thing since sliced bread. Mal
I've got a camera, it's black. I've got some lens, they are black as well.
WOW This Wacom is great, Mudder, you will have to get one.
The 6x8 is all that you will need, yes it is very weird getting used to it but I think I will be able to cope. It's so sensitive WOW I'm off to play with my Wacom. Over N Out Mic.
The Wacom tablets are okay.
I still prefer my trackball, though. I will say that Wacom's LCD tablets are quite impressive little things. It'd be nice to embed a small and slim portable LCD into one of the 4x5 or 6x8 Wacom tablets, though. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

Congrats on the new tablet Mic,
I love mine (an Intuos 2 6x8) and it feels weird using a mouse for PS now. Takes a little bit of getting used to, but once you've got the hang of it, there's no looking back. It's invaluable for retouching photos. Masking is a breeze & the finesse with which you can make selections, esp. with the pressure & angle sensitivity is amazing. Also saves on the mouse clicks for long periods of time. Holding down the mouse button whilst moving the mouse to draw in fine detail gets really tiring after a few hours of PS. I find the pen much more comfortable & less strain on the wrist. Oh, btw. There is such a thing as an LCD Wacom tablet - It's called a Cintiq. Unfortunately, it costs 4K+ for the 21" (need to save for that 17-55 & 70-200), though I imagine it would be a dream to use. Sorry to wax lyricial Joolz
I know that exists, but I meant to include a smaller LCD panel in that Intuos or Graphire tablets.

Oh noes! Who started this thread about Wacom pads. I just looked at the Cintiq, this thing looks wonderful. I swear I'm never going to be rich!
Btw, not only is there the 21ux there is the 17sx which has less features and less pressure control but is about half the price. Darryl (aka Kipper)

kipper, You don't need to be rich to get the Cintiq Just few loose pennies which were thrown to the corner of your desk everytime you came back from shopping. P.S: I can see the Cintiq 21UX is suitable for you kipper! http://www.wacom.com.au/products/cintiq ... iq21x.html BTW, I PMed you sine 22/3 but you did not check your PM Birddog114

Chris, It was the 6x8 Intuous 3
Mic, Bloody good stuff, I was up until 1am last night playing with it. It's soooooo sensitive. It's pretty hard to get used to but after a week I think I'll be touching up just like I can write. And No cramps in my right hand Mic. PM Birddog.
mic
One you've had it a week or so, maybe you could do a mini review and point out all of it's shortcomings in order to sate my unhealthy lust for it Peter

stubbsy, the Cintiq 21UX is well suited your desire Birddog114
VNAF, My Beloved Country and Airspace
birddog While it would be a nice toy, the Cintiq has to stand in line behind a few other things like a prime lens and an SB800, to name but two. Edit: Oh and a few cases of Rutherglen muscats, tokays & durifs from my trip next week Peter

Birddog, You are a burden on our Mortgages
But we Luv Ya anyway. You are like the little Devil on my right shoulder, I have to keep looking away. Mic. Gees, I can't believe I said I luv a man when I haven't even met yo yet just call me Mr Metro Sexual Mic It's the Beers talking now.
Maybe so, but the 21UX is $4295, the 13.3" x 10.6" DTU710 is $2719 and the 11.9" x 9.1" PL510 is $1379 wheras the Intuos3 9" x 12" is $498 - a BIG difference Peter

Yes Stubbsy,
This is what I mean, Birddog is our little Devil on our shoulders ( forever tempting & toying with our souls with LUST The 6x8 is all you will need, it's big enough. The outer area takes up a bit of space on your desk. The working pad surface is 6x8. Oh, I didn't tell you this It's got a blue LED at the top of it, Looks Cool I luv little silly lights. Mic.
That's all I need to know - it will match the really cool blue light that comes through the logitech symbol on my MouseMan wheel mouse. Peter

Stubbsy,
Intuos3 9" x 12" is too big IMHO, the 6 x 8 will do the job nicely. Hey, What difference with your Madza and the Excel? is that big difference? Birddog114
VNAF, My Beloved Country and Airspace
birddog I'm seriously considering the 6 x 8 So far as Mazda vs Excel: Japanese build quality vs Korean $#%#% (hope plucka isn't watching ) Peter

Are Yes, Sorry Stubbsy,
Now I have nothing but good news on this Gismo And 1 little thing thats peeing me off a bit : Everytime My Mac goes to sleep mode and I restart it won't wake my Wacom ? I have to just pull the USB out at the Computer and it's away ( A little Glitch ) but it doesn't bother me that much because it's easy for me to access it. I can honestly say I don't know how I did things without it, I'm still getting used to it ( very sensitive ) and your 1st week you're sort of thinking this is a bit strange, but now it's full steam ahead. I haven't had a chance to program it with my fav PS Options but I will eventually. I also haven't installed the editing software yet that comes with it, but I will eventually. I love it, My hand also loves it Great in PS for Dodging & Burning & everything else. ( Oh an Inverting ) Give it 2 weeks to get used to and you will be saying the same thing as me. Well I hope after this rap Cheers, Mic. ( ILMW ) ( I Love My Wacom )

Picked one of these babies up at the meet @ birddogs today. First impressions are like mic says. Wow. A little weird using the pen like a mouse, but it works seamlessly. Had a little play in PS. MUCH finer editing control
Peter

Thats good to hear Stubbsy,
You will enjoy more and more as days go by. I was up to my 95th PP of my Wedding Shots & I tell you what, If I had been using the mouse my hand wouldn't be able to move. It didn't even get stiff or sore the whole process. Keep Wacoming Mic.
