For some reason I can't seem to get this picture to have the same contrast that I had in Photoshop. Used Adjustment layers channel mixer and Hue saturation for the BW. I'm unhappy with how grey and muddy it is though. Comments and critique welcome. Last edited by dooda on Sat Apr 09, 2005 6:39 pm, edited 1 time in total.
As for the grey and muddy look i reckon it really makes the photograph. All that concrete and the monolith of the ESB is very much enhanced by the dark, grainy B&W imagery you have managed to display.
The addition of the other old buildings in the image also help to create the scale of the ESB and perhaps even take it back to the days when it was built. I would have been proud to have taken a photo that good. Well done!!!! Steve.

I agree with Steve, this is a good shot Dave, I like it a lot. The BW treatment is perfect for the subject.

Thanks for the comments. I actually upped the contrast more than I normally would have because of the slightly washed out look on the web. I like this pic too, hadn't looked back at it for a long time. Was actually taken before i got a D70.

Yes I have a couple, some of my favs are in the subway, which I've posted here before. I'll remind myself to post them here sometime. BTW, you're right, if you go anywhere in the US go to NYC, it simply knocked my socks off. Tons of great photogalleries as well. I spent 2 of the days with my F80 and 2 days with my friend's digi Rebel (where this shot came from). Trying to scale the massive size of the ESB is tricky as it needs scale but it also needs an exaggerated angle. I got lots of pics of it, but this one does it the most justice I think.
Beautiful shot that is timeless! Isn't it a shame that modern hi-rise doesn't have the class!
