Pictures from Metropolis

That's Superman's Metropolis... They were filming for Superman Returns today in Sydney, so I decided to pop down for a look...

Very interesting to see up close... The customisation of well-known landmarks, the props, all the activity surrounding the filming (catering, traffic control, security), the extras and the pro-photographers that were attracted to the scene...

I have a series of photos in my Smugmug gallery that you may like to look at ... Not technically perfect (by a long way), but an interesting photo-reportage... I have tried to annotate the photos so that you have some idea what was going on... You can opt for a slideshow in the drop-down box at the top of the screen...

Have a look at the shots in my Smugmug gallery at http://jpeake.smugmug.com/gallery/475239/1/19309468
Cheers, John

Interesting stuff John. I saw them filming out the front of the NSW Library but I thought they were making an advertisement.

We drove past about 8 yellow taxis and Metropolis bus parked up near the rocks / observatory hill. Was going to stop and take a photo, but you beat me to the idea anyway.

Wow, talk about a hive of activity. That's a really interesting look at a film shoot. Thanks for showing us that John.

Brandon Routh is playing Superman... and no I didn't get a shot of him... As soon as he came on set the crew put up black screens all around so that no-one could get a shot of him... They are very secretive...

Nice shots John, thanx for sharing. I had to go into the city on Sunday morning and my plan was to go down York St, I soon had to change plans but I think I saw them putting that MASSIVE reflector screen in..huge much!? Thanx for your photos though mate, I love seeing the behind the scenes stuff like you shot! :)

"Super" shots John. Nice little story.
How many "Winnebago’s" were there? A good indication to how many of the lead actors were there that day.
You actually captured what life is like on a set........ hours of waiting around for something to happen :)

I've got a camera, it's black. I've got some lens, they are black as well.

I think all the stars were holed up at the Menzies Hotel... just a short walk onto the set...
