Rain stopped playSo when the rain stopped I popped out with the D70+70/200Sigma+2x converter+SB800.
Critique good or bad welcome Water drop Thingy with water drops Chris

And the duck's guts...
I've said it before and i'll say it again Chris, you have an interesting and photogenic garden. Probably not as often photographed like Birdy's, but up there with the best Nice pics, the lighting is excellent. Those drops of water really add life to a plant photo. Steve.

Beautiful shots both Chris, especially the first. The first also brings up one very small difference between the 70-200 Nikon & Sigma. I note from the highlights in the first shot that the Sigma has 9 aperture blades whereas the Nikon has 9 rounded aperture blades. A small difference, but there.
chris:
the first one is very kool...i would consider cropping right in on just the water drop (maybe puting it in the left thirds of the frame) and the lil branch it hangs on for more of an abstract shot, also less distracting background, making the drop the obvious focal point of the pic.... since you have the original, can you give it a try?
Hi Chris - I, too, would like to see a tighter crop on the first one. The clarity, colour and exposure are however spot on.
The second one is surperb - well done What is it? *** When getting there is half the fun! ***
Glen - we should start calling you the bokeh man
ru32day - I used aperture priority f/16 at 60th sec with flash on iTTLBL Dee and everyone else that has suggested a crop on #1 - will do and post up Thanks for the comments Chris

Chris, against the grain here but I think composition was spot on the first time, if I crpped it I would keep the droplets central and just crop the frame from each side equally. The more you look at it, the more you realise what a superb shot it is.
Chris, nice drops
The 2nd crop does emphasize the drop more IMO, but is a tad too light, like the 1st. Mic.
Hi Mic - just a question - is your monitor now calibrated? Are you on a Mac or PC? What gamma are you running?
The reason I ask is this - I have used my monitors for quite some time uncalibrated (used my experience to check pics) they are now calibrated and the pics do look very good on my monitors. But, having said this, it is a total unkown to me as to how they will look on other monitors. Chris

Hey there Chris,
I'm on my work one at the moment which usually renders pics a tad dark, I'll check on my Mac tonight and let you know. Since I went through all the stuff last time I don't think I have had many Probs. Mic.
Interesting Mic - your original old man pic does look dark to me and jethro’s reworked pic looks fine
My monitors are calibrated to 1.8 gamma at native resolution with the Spyder. One is a CRT and the other LCD. If a pic is prepared on the mac at 1.8 gamma it should appear darker on a PC with gamma set to 2.2 - it would appear that between the two of us we are getting a reversal Chris

Looks spot on Chris, sorry.
My stupid monitor at work, before I give advice i'll think twice at work. Mic. Your Mac buddy
