This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Shot this one of a friends little boy, was fooling around with some curves and came up with this. At first I didn't like it, but now I do :?

Maybe I'm becoming too Arty Farty and need to use a Cannon 20 D

Mic.

Personally Mic I can’t work out whether you are arty or farty - probably the latter

I feel in all honesty that this has been pushed just a little too far. Or, maybe some selective cloning out might help, for example the dark lines under the eyes

Signed with affection from a m@c user

Chris, I did push it that far intentionally, I thought it just looked different. in which it is.

Didn't think it would be everybody's cuppa

I think it's pretty cool. 8) Kind of a solarized or posterized look. I don't think you could have pushed it any further though. It's right at the limit.

The only bit that bothers me is the little spot to the right of his chin.

Keep experimenting!

I think it's a cool abstract, Mic. :D Of course, I generally like abstracts, so I'm easy to please. You might also want to play with leaving a little color in this type shot, like I did with the abstract I posted a few days ago.

Mic

Too far for me I'm afraid. But I can see the art in it, if that makes sense.

Sorry to go OT...

SoCal Steve. My how you've aged :!:

Looks like the kid has a bizarre looking beard. I'm surprised you didn't go for the curve and invert ;)
