Self portraits

Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

To solidify my identity. 8)

Taken last April, while playing with my "new" d70.

Image

Taken almost 2 years ago, July or August, 2003.

You might want to screen the women and children from this shot. It's pretty scary....

I no longer have "most" of the facial fur.... :P

Kerry,

That second shot reminds me of some images I made in the early 80's, I guess. Probably mid - late 70's, truth be told.

Shot some night images of the Sydney Opera House from Mrs MacQuarie's Chair (Harbour Bridge behind and to the right of the SOH) on AP100.

Enlarged the negs onto 10x8 lith film, and then contact printed those positives back onto more lith film, with a fine dot mask between the interneg (pos) and the unexposed film.

Finally contact printed from the final neg onto standard paper. Looked really cool. Or at least I thought so. :)

Kerry, I'll post this Reply from your other post here so everybody can have a good Chuckle at my expense.

Oh well

After fainting, I have now picked myself up off the ground

Yes, I have to admit I always thought Kerry was female which is funny coming from me as I have pretended being a female.

I'm sorry Kerry, I don't know why I have always thought such a thing as there is absolutly nothing wrong with being a man

I'm sure Marcus & everybody will have a big belly laugh at this little mis interpretation.

Great shots by the way MATE

Regards,

A very silly feeling man in OZ.

This is really easy to do with PSP. Dunno if PS will do the same, but I assume that it will. I really like the effect on some photos, such as the one above. It makes me look almost human, compared to the original. :?

But, you've prolly heard the old saying, Ugliness is next to Godliness, or something like that. :)

Kerry - the second shot reminds me of so many friends from my days of searching for gold in the late seventies :D

heh, it was good for a laugh. But, it's not at all unusual. A lot of folks have assumed the same thing. NBD. :D

And, thanks for the compliment, MATE. 8)

Well, there's something I've not done. All of my "prospecting", in the 70s, was done in bars and beaches.......

I'm not too keen on the first shot, but the second one is quite excellent.

I think what the others might be referring to is the Kodalith graphics arts film that some of us played around with in the early 70's. In fact I think I still have some 8x10 sheets of it and the dry chemicals for processing it.

The second shot reminds me of one of my uni lecturers except he didn't have much hair at the top. :D

How's it been stored Steve? In a fridge, I hope?

Yes, that was it; great fun for doing some interesting things with.

That, and solarisation, of course.

Would you care to elaborate on the dried chemical subsatnces you're referring to?

Oh, I see. You mean the Kodalith developer. :)

The first one is an abstract, meant to emphasize my shadow. :)

The second is what I thought Gary was talking about in his post. I didn't do any of that stuff with film. I used Tri-X and pushed it, double and triple exposures and played around with infrared, both color and B&W. 8)
