Melb Meet 17 AprilJust a reminder in a smaller thread than the original that we have a meet arranged...
(you can read the larger thread here - http://forum.d70users.com/viewtopic.php?t=3680 ) Date: Sunday April 17th Time: 9am Meeting Place: Obsevatory Cafe - Botanic Gardens The Observatory Cafe is situated in Birdwood Avenue, South Yarra opposite the Shrine of Remembrance, in the heart of the Royal Botanic Gardens. It neighbours the old Observatory buildings and is located next to the Royal Botanic Gardens visitors centre. Melways Map 2F, K 12 This will be an informal get together, all welcome. We don't quite know what will happen yet, we may wander into the CBD. For anyone who gets lost or confused, I'll have my mobile 0410 004 624 Greg - - - - D200 etc

Yes Matt, it is early autumn, but a few trees have started to turn. Autumn (IMHO) is the best time of year in Melbourne, we get crisp sunny days, beautiful colours, the whole nine yards.

I will be there! Does anyone know if there is free all day parking in Birdwood Ave on a Sunday?? Assuming we will be all day! If not, where is the next best place to park?
Just gone through the 5 pages of the original thread, and looks like the parking is free! Greg, do you think you could bring along one of the D70 user straps for me to have a look at? I'm interested! Thankyou! I'm looking forward to this, a chance to take some pics without the kids! Oh, and of course to meet everyone! See you there (I hope I'm not late, I'm not a morning person!!)
Will do stormy. Don't know about the parking, but there should be something around there on a sunday morning that isn't too restrictive.

Any chance I can get a CCD clean while I'm at the meet? I haven't taken a shot since I got back home, haven't managed to take the camera in to get cleaned and I'm sick of cloning out bunnies..

PW, you really need to do a cleaning in a controlled environment, and be able to take test shots and check them on a computer monitor. When Onyx did a clean at Birdy's place, there were streaks after the first couple of cleans which had to be removed. I don't think that outdoors is the place to be doing this sort of thing. stormygirl,
You can still use forum.d70users.com, and thereafter it reverts to d70users.net. Anyway the straps are very comfortable on, in comparison to the original Nikon straps that come with the D70, and especially with heavier lenses on. Check it out with Greg B tomorrow. BTW: the weather in Adelaide is surperb, fine and not a cloud in the sky with autumn coolness in the light wind. Tomorrow should be a ripper in Melbourne. Have a great day, fozzie
When people ask what equipment I use - I tell them my eyes.
Yes indeed, the straps are all about function, the d70Users logo is just a bonus.
Thanks for that weather report Fozzie, it bodes well for a delightful day. Greg - - - - D200 etc

If their popular when Birdy runs out of stock, we maybe have to get them done with the DSLR Users.com logo... when I'm done with it, of course.

yes i did piro,
i was lucky not to get hurt today, i was standing in a high risk area with another video cam guy, when one of the cars kicked up something and had missed his eye by an inch. left him with a bleeding spot and no vision for 30 minutes in that eye. Life's pretty straight without drifting

Good fun folks, let's start organising the next one. Something that involves eating and drinking perhaps. Or it could be photography if absolutely necessary. Or all of the above.
(And thanks to those who pointed out the slight imprecision of my sig - I have now included "approximately" to account for the numerical superiority of women, and the wholly or partly knackerless among the males ) Greg - - - - D200 etc

Dude, I tried google and it brought back 100 results that I didn't want. This wasn't even in the results
But I had found the resulting webpage which is cs.ubc.ca anyway before you posted this. Darryl (aka Kipper)
