D70 at a weekend weddingHi Guys. Took my camera along to my step sisters wedding on Saturday and I got what I feel are some great shots. Here are just a taste of them:

Owen, they look great to me and i think you did a good job, i have never done this but i would be happy with these as well. The gardens look nice and yeh dont if you could have go into that archway but would have made some nice shots as well.

They look good to me, Owen. A notch dark, but still quite nice. my gallery of so-so photos

Thanks for the comments guys. They are a bit dark, but I spot metered off the brides face when I could. The dress was close to overexposing in a lot of shots as well so I couldn't do too much of a levels adjustment.
One thing I did notice was that I really could have done with a VR lens. I got a lot of blurry shots as the light faded. I guess I could have used Auto ISO to get the shutter speeds I needed. Thanks for checking them out
Owen, VR lens is nice to have, but monopod might helps as well. AUTO ISO is the worst part to use, just please forget it. Birddog114

Noisy picture can be done by manually selecting proper ISO and correct meter, other side AUTO ISO is not. Edit: The external SB-600 or SB-800 may help also. Birddog114

Something i've learnt through experience with my VR lens is that it's not always as useful as you might think. I would say get a tripod/monopod before a VR lens because while the shots you took may have been blurry because of your hand shake, VR will most likely just introduce blur from the subject's movements, which is harder to see on the LCD and just as bad when it comes to printing the shots.. From what I can see, VR is very useful when you're at a long focal length and would like to keep the camera steady for longer than normal ( 1/length ) but still a faster shutter speed than will blur the subject ( 1/125 I think is what is quoted ). Of course, VR is probably also useful for low-light landscapes and other mostly static scenes.. PlatinumWeaver / Dean

Love the shots Owen! Looks like it was perfect day for your Step Sister! But whats she doing wading through those thigh high shrbs..haha!
But seriously, great angles used, they speak volumes. Have you considered lifting/saturating a bit of the green to brighten the dull background contrast? Just a thought Respect to those who click!
I love those last two pics. I ask myself, 'why is the bride hiding over the other side of the garden'. Fantastic
Steve.
