Wanna to see how's the Sigma 30mm f1.4 vs Nikkor 28/f1.4 or Nikkor 35 f1.4 AIS or Nikkor 35/ f.2D, hopefully, if it's correct with the provided information from my supplier, I'll be able to get it very soon for comparison.

Sigma 30mm/f1.4 price is less than AU$900.00, Estimate street price once it's in the market

I've no doubts that this lens is good and as an old Sigma club member (yes, I became one before I joined D70Users.com!) I'm starting to think about this thingy!

I hope it is good, much of their new stuff is. The 20 1.8 was crap. This lens has 8 blades which is unusual, hope they are rounded. HSM (same as AFS) isn't really required on a simple light prime, but no disadvantage except for paying for it.

I think the sigma 20mm F1.8 is great, I love the close focusing ability.

Vince, your post wasn't in when I last posted, was going to ask what you thought of it, a mate of mine had one and it was very soft till about 2.8 or so, which he thought defeated the purpose.

True about the softness, but I love using it for capturing inside of dark churches and getting close to my subjects. Only thing I would complain about would be the focus speed.

You can always reduce the sharpness of an image in PP.

But if it's not there in the first place, then you simply don't have the data that you need in the first instance.

Get into the minimeet at 2:00am on Saturday and have a test drive on it! :lol:

with Sigma Club members :wink:

The 30/1.4 won't work in daylight, need no lighting or down to 0 lux, so 2:00am is a good test with wide open :lol:

I don't think they have all of them, not release in other market and no firm price set from o/s Sigma resellers

You can see the Sigma 12-24 on their site is well over AU$1200.00 and the Sigma 10-20 is $679.00.
