Wanna to see how's the Sigma 30mm f1.4 vs Nikkor 28/f1.4 or Nikkor 35 f1.4 AIS or Nikkor 35/ f.2D, hopefully, if it's correct with the provided information from my supplier, I'll be able to get it very soon for comparison.
Sigma 30mm/f1.4 price is less than AU$900.00, Estimate street price once it's in the market

If the lens is good, that's a very attractive price even for a Nikkor fan like moi.

It will cost more for Nikon fans and cost less for Sigma Club's member cos you did not have Sigma Club priviledges or difference price for Non Sigma club members

I've no doubts that this lens is good and as an old Sigma club member (yes, I became one before I joined D70Users.com!) I'm starting to think about this thingy!
Sigma 30 f/1.4

I hope it is good, much of their new stuff is. The 20 1.8 was crap. This lens has 8 blades which is unusual, hope they are rounded. HSM (same as AFS) isn't really required on a simple light prime, but no disadvantage except for paying for it.

I think the sigma 20mm F1.8 is great, I love the close focusing ability.

Vince, your post wasn't in when I last posted, was going to ask what you thought of it, a mate of mine had one and it was very soft till about 2.8 or so, which he thought defeated the purpose.

I never realised that having Sigma glass could evoke more feelings in forum members than having a Canon
Maybe we should start a Tokina thread as well

Big Pix - the mere fact of owning a Sigma makes you a welcome member - the 12-24mm is a very nice piece of glass

True about the softness, but I love using it for capturing inside of dark churches and getting close to my subjects. Only thing I would complain about would be the focus speed.

Vince, when I saw you had one I thought of your wedding style and the softness could almost be called a feature in your case

Never!
You can always reduce the sharpness of an image in PP.
But if it's not there in the first place, then you simply don't have the data that you need in the first instance.

Get into the minimeet at 2:00am on Saturday and have a test drive on it! with Sigma Club members
The 30/1.4 won't work in daylight, need no lighting or down to 0 lux, so 2:00am is a good test with wide open

OK. 2am is the time when I'm usually not busy Just don't call police when you hear thud into your door
Have you got the lens? If yes, did you test it? Compared with prime Nikkors?

LOL, I don't think so. I think I'd get the 18-50 2.8 or 24-70 2.8 first; besides, do you reckon they have stock? They also list the Sigma 10-22, which I didn't think was out yet?
Edit: LOL you blokes are too quick!

I don't think they have all of them, not release in other market and no firm price set from o/s Sigma resellers

You can see the Sigma 12-24 on their site is well over AU$1200.00 and the Sigma 10-20 is $679.00.
