Adobe Camera Raw 3 for CS?

Postby Soulboy on Fri Apr 29, 2005 8:46 pm

I'm sure I read somewhere that Adobe will release it's Camera Raw 3 plugin to CS (not 2) users when the new PS goes on sale. Then I read somewhere else that they won't.

Does anyone know whether the plugin will be available to current CS users that probably won't be upgrading for a little while yet?

I don't think they will because CS2 introduces a whole new concept of file browser now it is a seperate application and the new ACR plugin will only be available to CS2, that is the crux of the WB encription issue. Current D70 users who upgrade to the upcoming firmware will not be able to use the current ACR plugin as the new NEF format WITH WB encription will not be supported in PSCS1, only (when the legal argy-bargy is sorted) PSCS2. In my opinion this has occured by Adobe NOT Nikon.

In real term, do our hobby photogs need PSCS2?
And is it worth to u/grade?
Many ways around can be used with encrypted WB without new ACR in PSCS2!
