Help! Dust on sensor, where in Perth to get it fixed??Hi All,
Hoping a member of this forum may be able to point me in the right direction here, getting my sensor cleaned. The reason it is dirty is because i tried to clean it myself (yes, I can hear the gasps of horror!), and it is now hopelessly dirty, and needs a proper clean! I am on a tight budget, any guesses as to how much it will cost to get cleaned? Thanks, Sean
DIY that what our members learned and get along with.
Or: If you're in Sydney area, pop in a mini meet each Saturday and members will help you to clean it or you can learn DIY on the spot. Birddog114

Nikon will give you the first cleaning for free, but otherwise it's about $50.
But how did you do this yourself (and not suceed)? Most of us have no issues; it just takes patience, concentration, and a dust free work area. And the right materials. And ... please put your location into your profile; how will your neighbours know if they can help you if you don't help yourself with this basic information? g.

Errr, the title says 'in Perth'.
Might be best to seek advice from our Perth members. Otherwise search through the forum and you will locate instructions on how to clean successfully and with what equipment you will need. It's much cheaper to do it yourself with the right equipment. And when you've done it once, you'll be surprised what all the fuss is about. Steve.

I would suggest that you contact Maxwells and find out who their Western Australian agent is. Just don't mention you self cleaning attempt. Did you follow the instructions and use the materials mentioned on this forum??
Try this place is all eles fails, just needed to go to Maxwells site and look at service centres.

Thanks for all the great replies!
I wrote the question in a hurry before heading out the door, and was not very precise in what I asked, apologies. I have updated my profile to show my location on the west coast, hope that helps. I bought the camera in KL, Malaysia last year, and spent the next 7 months travelling through parts of Asia and the southern coast of Oz. I did not "clean it" in the sense that u guys are thinking, more just noticed a speck on the photos after a few months in Asia, and managed to get rid of it by (i know, I know) taking the lens off, and putting a cloth inside the body. Unfortunately, this worked perfectly (unfortunate because it gave me confidence to do it again!), and the speck was gone. So, when the same problem occurred a few months later in Esperance, WA, I tried the same method with disastrous results, as I am sure you can all imagine, now I have multiple specks on my photos! So, should I attempt to self clean using the proper method, or am I going to be able to get it cleaned for free in Perth, considering that I bought the camera in Malaysia?? Thanks again to all who replied, Sean
Copper hill!I've done the Copper Hill method:
http://www.pbase.com/copperhill/ccd_cleaning Worked great for myself, and it's only $30 US. Worked great for me, just follow the instructions. mateo
