Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent. Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature. Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread. Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Moved form General to here because of pics in post. :)Thank you for your replies and welcome. I am very new to the DSLR world.
I am still learning the camera itself (menus, settings, ect...). I have taken lots of pics, but blindly. Meaning setting the camera and shooting and seeing what happens. I am eager to learn how to set up the shot before it happens. Example, the following pic i did not know that the background would be out of focus. The picture below was the first shot and then i zoomed in on this shoot. I would say i was about 8' from the subject. This is the shot just before the above shot. Please fell free to comment on these pics. I am sure I could use the help. Also here is a link to my site to the Leesburg Rally pics Click on LEESBURG 2005. http://www.kingofthecruisers.com/ Thank you again, Wilbur PS I should add that I croped and saved the pics for the web to reduce file size.
G'day there, Wilbur. Welcome.
May I suggest that you have a look in the Tutorial section on this site - you will find 3 articles that will help you to think about your question: - Photograhy in a Nutshell - Exposure 101 - Shutter Speed Assignment One of the interesting things about DSLRs is their ability to limit depth of field. The depth of field you finish with in your pic will ususally depend on the aperture you set - larger aperture = shallower DOF; smaller aperture = deeper DOF. The focal length of your lens also has an influence. The articles above will give you plenty of info, and if you have more questions, there is lots of photgraphic knowledge and experience on this site. Good luck. TFF (Trevor)
