3 views of Sydney Harbour

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

I like your shots, especially the first one - great lighting. I'd prefer the third one without the train - I find it distracting (I sound like Frank Castanza!)

Matt,
Number 1 for me! The overbearing massiveness (is that a word?) of the bridge in the background completes this great shot. At first you are attracted to the waterfront buildings, but then can't help but look to the "thing" in the background. It's kind of spooky.

G'day,
The sky in #2 seems to almost jump out of the pic, but #1's my fav, as Marcus mentioned, something about the metalwork of the bridge standing over the buildings gives it a strange feel...

Anubis, if you look at Matt's photos at the bottom is a link called exif data, click on that and it will give you those details. You can also download a program called Iexif from http://www.opanda.com it gives exif info on any photo where the exif data hasn't been removed. Very handy.


Problem I have found it doesn't tell me when to press the shutter for Matt's beautiful composition :wink:

I like the way the curves of the walkways interact with the verticality of the buildings...

Off to sydney this weekend and am looking forward to getting down there and having a play!

Matt

The first one seems a little dark on my monitor, but it's still a very good shot for the reasons posted by others already, but my pick is the second. I think it's an interesting composition with a quite unusual visual angle and I love the curves and lines in it (but them I'm into that :shock: ). The third one doesn't grab me, but it's not the train - I think it's a little too much a standard bridge shot, albeit by an excellent photographer.

Third one lacks the oomph of the first two. The first two are magnificent. Lovely images, and 2 really is straight out of NG. Wonderfully composed.
