Photoshop Elements 3

I have just finished reading an article in Digital Photoghraper about this.

Their opinion is that it is a good beginners package and offers many of the features of it bigger brother.

Has anyone used this package yet. Does it support D70 NEF Raw format.

For around 180 bucks it seems like a good package to start with. What do you think.

I think it is a very good package. It doesn't have the total flexibility of PSCS, but it won't give you sticker shock either!
You can buy an academic version for $98 at Harris Technology - do you have a student or teacher at your place?
I would also recommend "The Photoshop Elements 3 Book for Digital Photographers" by Scott Kelby. It is an excellent companion.

I use it (after having using used Version2 before) and it works fine for what I need to do (simple stuff, I don't edit my pics too much), there is a Adobe raw converter plugin that works with nef files or you can use the Nikon plugin (it comes with PictureProject).

I am only just getting into digital photography and a complete novice with Photoshop. I have elements version 2.

Does the Adobe RAW plugin work with this version?

Read this earlier Forum thread on the subject of the relative merits of "PS Elements."

You should probably also try the Forum search engine choosing Search Options then entering Photoshop Elements and selecting "search for all terms" (or words to that effect) at the top of the page.

You will find that PS Elements 2 does not open raw images........ but YES PS Elements 3 does, I an not sure if the raw plugin is already with the program or you have to down load the raw plugin from the adobe site...... PSe3 is a cut down version of PSCS......for the money it is a very good program you will get a lot of enjoyment from........

Barry,

I have used PSE from version 1 and now have v3. I also have PS/CS but use the cataloging in PSE3 which I think is fantastic. The PSE3 editor is very good and only missing a couple of things which are useful in PS/CS - curves, channels etc. There are free actions out on the web which will enable this functionality in PSE3 to a limited extent. It then becomes about all most people will need for PP of photos.

Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) does work with PSE3 and I use it instead of Nikon Capture. My understanding is the ACR 3.x only works with PS/CS2.

Good luck with it an come back with all you questions when you get your copy.
