Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent. Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature. Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Mateo - make sure you have copied the url for the correct size image you want to post. Smugmug has several versions of the pictures you post there. At the end of the urls you'll see (from memory) "Ti" for the thumbnail size, "S" for the small size, "M" for the medium size, "L" for the large and "O" for the original posted size. If you include these in the url you post here it should be okay.
Edit: You fixed it as I was replying to you - Well done! Nice image too. Simon

That's a really nice shot Mateo...
but (having read your other post) I'm sure it could be made into an amazing photo by doing a little post-processing on it... A little saturation lift and a little sharpening and it would REALLY zing... If I was at home, I would demonstrate, but unfortunately I'm not... I use smugmug as well, and I always find it easiest to click on the "Share with Friends" button and then to copy one of the URLs that it lists... I generally post the S version and link to the L version of the image... To do this, the tags should look something like this: {url=photolink-L.jpg}{img}photolink-S.jpg{/img}{/url} except you need to replace the curly brackets with square ones... Keep posting... there are some really nice photos in your gallery... Oh... and BTW, you might want to add your location to your profile... Become a proper part of the community Cheers, John

Mateo - the pic is superb - rich vibrant variations on a given colour - sharp as and a very worthy first pic post.
Just one point - it would be nice to know your location Fidelis to your Semper Chris

At first I thought this was going to be a lecture on being productive while at work. I got nervous but luckily it was just a fantastic pic of a green leaf. Lovely. Agree with Chris.
I would love to see what can be done to improve it! Thanks to all for the Kudos, and I've added a location to my profile! mateo
Thanks for posting your location Mateo - I had a feeling you might be an American plus could have been in the Marine Corp

G'day Mateo,
Great first post, rich vibrant colour and interesting subject and composition. Also, you can always try the "preview" facility when posting to see what your post will look like so you can experiment nefore submitting... Cheers. Aka Andrew
OK Mateo, you asked for it... I'm at home now and therefore have access to my full arsenal of image processing programs... I only had access to the Large version of your Smugmug photo, but for the sake of comparison: Here is your brilliant original: and here is my suggested improvement: A little tweak to the curve (very slight S shape), a boost to the green (+15) saturation, and sharpening with the Photoshop unsharp mask at 150, 1.4, 1 One of many things you can do with PP (I am but a beginner)... As usual it's a matter of taste, but I think that this version would definitely print better... Cheers, John

Indeed I did.. I could have sworn I wrote a lengthy reply... hmmm, maybe it didn't post or I possibly never did it. I do like the touched up one... not sure if I liek it better though. The original has a the softer feel to it. I different mood for sure. I don't know about printing, I'd have to check it out! But nice work! mateo
