Holy S@@t, that first one is really eye catching, surprising how far the flash can reach, how far was the first pelican?

BTW, I got the pelican shot enlarged to 30"x20", took it into my local framing/poster shop and he ordered 3 prints on the spot!

Won't make much from the deal but it is very satisfying to see others appreciate one's efforts.

Max

Two excellent shots. The first one is by far the better for me. I like the fact there are two birds and the reflection of the foregound one in the water is the icing on the cake. And before anyone comments - the blown highlights in the sky don't detract in the slightest

Of course the second one isn't too shabby either.

Yeah Chris, away without phone, internet, just nuthin'! Didn't have any prawns this time (trying to watch cholesterol) but the fishing was the best I've ever seen from the Clarence river. Bream, whiting, flathead, ludderick et al. Best of all, it's 1 1/4 hrs drive from home, no driving for days on end!

Thanks all for the comments and encouragement, much appreciated.

Yes Dee, (still saving up for that SB800 from Birdy, not being much of a portrait type photographer, I don't know that much about flashes!)

Stunning, Ozimax. Very nice.

I watched a tutorial at http://www.RussellBrown.com the other day on using the Shadow/Highlight tool in PS. I think that your second shot would probably go through the roof with a little application of that tool!

Cheers.
