Something I've been experimenting with after seeing a few similar shots around the place. Still have a bit of work to do getting the correct lighting, positioning the colour board flush, etc etc.... but here's my attempt so far. And yes.... the plexiglass is terribly dirty... going to clean it shortly :)

Comments or critique quite welcome.

two books under the left side of the moniter and you have the start of someting with a bit of deep etching that would be a stand alone image or something that could be used with say a football match........

I hope this is where your image is heading.........

Mark

I came back to this a few times before commenting. For me this is conceptually great, but I'd also like to see it with some equally strong, but less bright, colours since it just seems too "neon" to me. Say electric blue rather than cyan and maybe a cherry red. Perhaps even add some metallic colour for more textural contrast (gold or silver). Of course this all might look like doggy doo, just a thought. You're certainly on the right track. PS I wish people would stop posting shots that required an SB800 to work. My lust is getting really bad

thanks for the comments stubbsy... much appreciated...

i reckon you could get away with this with a normal halogen light... as long as it's bright enough... might be worth a try for you?

Very nice image. Very nice.
What is the reflective surface?

Did you just have the SB800 set up and fired remotely then? How do you fire the SB800? Is it tiggered by the onboard flash or is there a hot shoe connector connecting it?

The more i see this the more an sb800 is on the top of the list.

surface is plexiglass in my studio.

the sb800 was set to remote and 1/1, fired via the onboard flash in manual mode. onboard flash is covered with some cardboard to stop it reflecting off of the object.
