High-pass sharpeningG'day all
For the 99% of the members here who are a damn site more knowledgeable than I am when it comes to PP that probably already know this, this might come across as one of those "oh der" threads, but I've only just come to the realisation that when using high-pass sharpening, if I desaturate the layer used for the high-pass filter, that cleans out any colour noise as well... Doh! Never gave that a moment's thought until I realised this on this link: http://www.photozone.de/7Digital/highpass.htm I usually use high-pass sharpening instead of USM, sometimes using USM just for the fine stuff (eg: pixel radius up to about .3-4) but usually use high-pass for any stronger sharpening as there's no halo effect... Just in case it's handy to someone that's not familiar with it... There's an interesting comparison regarding noise reduction utilities too, they seem to come to the same conclusion as another link posted recently where it came down to a choice between NeatImage and NoiseNinja... I don't think I've used NR since getting the D70 but interesting or handy anyway... Cheers, hope it's useful to someone... Aka Andrew
Good one. I had a play with this one and made up a couple of actions for this if anyone is interested.
http://www.pixspot.com/albums/userpics/ ... %20ATM.zip It is possible to change the values of the high pass by double clicking "high pass" inside the action before or after it is applied. Hopefully they work without any hassles. Cheers Matt
Thanks Matt I'll see how it goes. Peter
