Bracketted the shot heavily, this was the one I chose as the most 'ideal' exposure IMO. Your thoughts?!

Thanks, you guys must have faulty memories cos HK is hardly ever like that - smog/haze free days are rare.

Here's another image, this one taken in Macau. I just walked out of 'Museu de Macau' and spotted this young lady sitting by the edge of the courtyard, overlooking the city skyline. I think I still had the 50 f/1.4 low light lens on... it was a "decisive moment" so I took the shot. Landscapes of the city buildings by themselves were very bland, but I think adding a human element makes a difference:


Cropped to maximise impact, the original was far more ordinary...

Yeh Glen, can't really tell if it's sunny or cloudy or what, sort of in between. That would be Vancouver if it didn't rain here atleast once a week.

I love the crop Onyx, and man that lens makes a difference as you've gotten a great image out of a pretty heavy crop. It seems like the Kit lens doesn't quite lend itself to cropping that heavily. Look at all the AC units. Don't have to worry about that here in Hongcouver.

The cropped shot of the skyline is excellent and a fantasic demo of how an "ordinary" shot can yield a great one with judicious cropping.

Thanks guys. That sunset was relatively haze-free by HK standards. I guess I'm missing Sydney too much!

Yeah, that 50 prime is a very nice lens that resolves well... (that was a f/5.6 shot) however for my intended use of low light/indoors, I find it a little too long on the D70 (sometimes I can't take another step back!)
